“When my business is facing a high volume of kitchen design requests, OKD helps us keep our lead time short. There’s up to a 50 percent reduction in lead time to closing the sale.”
The client, a full-service kitchen, bathroom, and flooring dealer, had a straightforward business challenge: they needed more designers to support the sales process. While searching for staffing solutions, the client came across OKD, which would give the client flexibility to create more designs without taking on the overhead of hiring more staff. Hiring the leading design shop that provides white-labeled services to the industry seemed like a no-brainer.
Today OKD adds to the client’s internal kitchen design team particularly when they get hit with many requests. This has allowed the client to deliver designs on time and close sales faster than without OKD.
OKD Adds to an Already Solid Kitchen Design Team
The role of the kitchen design for the client was twofold: to make the sale, and to later guide installation. The client always provided potential customers with 2 different design drafts to react to and compare.
As the partnership unfolded, OKD had only one real obstacle to manage:
- Internal kitchen design staff were nervous about using OKD. The team was concerned that by using OKD, they were just training their replacements – a common concern from internal design teams who start working with OKD. Based on advice and support from OKD president and founder Michael Toth, the client’s senior leadership communicated frequently with the design team to eliminate those concerns.
“If you’re big enough to outsource, OKD can be a real game-changer”
According to the client’s president & founder, it didn’t take long for the partnership to fall into a good rhythm, “all because of the processes OKD put into place.”
“Michael really knows what he’s doing. He knows the kitchen design industry like the back of his hand, and he was very procedural and systematic in how he approached our work together.
“We chatted through the process and then provided an outline of how things would work. The first step was identifying the coordinator on our side of things, and then scheduling training.
“There was definitely a learning curve and investment in using OKD, but what isn’t? Hiring and training local talent would have been just as time intensive. OKD is less resource intensive. It’s a good investment,” said the president & founder.
With OKD’s support every step of the way, you too can meet the challenges you face in your kitchen design business.
